Paula's 1991 Jeep Cherokee
April 18-20, 2008 - 1st Trip. Went well. Everything was a success. Click on the picture for more pictures.
April 9, 2008 - Radiator Skid Plate. Another $7 from Pick-Your-Part "What is that?". You can also see the Rubicon Express Adjustable Track Bar in these pictures.
April 8, 2008 - Gas Tank Skid Plate. $7 from Pick-Your-Part. I don't think they knew what it was.
April 7, 2008 - These should help some in the traction department. Until we get front and rear lockers... The wheels are Aero Beadlocks (real beadlocks, not the fakes you see on the street). The tires are Uniroyal Liberator AT's. 31x10.50-15
April 6, 2008 - This weekend was productive. The battery was leaking. Maybe because we tried to climb 'Cheapskate Hill' again. We didn't make it this time. Too dry, and slick, street tires. We made it a week ago on the same tires. But whatever caused the battery to leak, it won't happen again. The rack is now installed. The Warn Xfer case skid plate is on. As well as the RRO Rock Sliders. The bottom of the XJ is starting to get well protected.
March 29, 2008 - The suspension seems to work quite well:
March 29, 2008 - Here are pictures of the rear end lifted:
March 27, 2008 - Here are pictures of the front end lifted:
March 19, 2008 - The XJ has been smogged, tinted and alarmed. The smog went great. The alarm hasn't worked properly yet (Car Stereo Wholesalers - Bakersfield) and the tint guy put on the wrong tint. The lift & shocks, 3 wheels, xfer skid and 4x4 Posi-Lok are all in and ready to be installed. We scaled the car yesterday and the weight was 3310 with 59% front bias. Here are pictures of the tint and real dirt on the tires (yes, the 4 wheel drive does work):
March 13, 2008 - Performance Quality Automotive (4501 Grissom St., Bakersfield, CA 93313 661:834-5578 - Ron) fixed the A/C and the front axle disco.
March 6, 2008 - Immediate Plans: smog, alarm and window tint. Ordered/Planned: Aero IMCA Beadlocks (black w/ yellow rings, these are real beadlocks, not the fakes you usually see on the road). 31x10.50-15 Tires (all-terrain tread). Rubicon Express 3.5" Super-Flex lift. Duetsch Shocks. Warn xfer case skid plate. Rocky Road Rockrails.
March 5, 2008 - Ready to install: Surco Safari Rack on Yakima crossbars.
February 26, 2008 - Bought our 1991 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer for our desert/mountain explorer. Click on the picture to the left to see more pictures of the Cherokee.
